This policy explains what information Down South Roofing & Construction ("Down South," "we," "us") collects through www.downsouthroofingtx.com (the "site") and when you call, text or email us, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. We are a roofing and construction company based in Katy, Texas.
By using the site or sending us your information, you agree to this policy. If you don't agree, please don't use the site. You can still call us at (832) 530-0402.
Information you give us
Contact form. The topic you pick, your first and last name, how you want us to reply (text, call or email), your mobile number, your email address, your property ZIP code, whether you are military or a first responder, and your message.
Inspection booking. The type of project, how soon you need it, your name, phone number, email address, the property's street address, city, state and ZIP code, the date and time you pick, whether you are military or a first responder, and any notes you add.
Chat ("Ask Down South"). The reason you pick, your name, mobile number and optional email address, and everything you type into the chat. The chat is answered by an AI assistant, not a person. A member of our team may read the conversation later to follow up with you.
Calls, texts and emails. Your phone number or email address and whatever you tell us. We use it to answer you and to do the work you hire us for.
Built for the Brave. If you tell us you are military, a veteran or a first responder, we note it so we can apply the discount.
Please don't send payment card numbers, Social Security numbers, insurance policy logins or other sensitive information through the site or the chat. We will never ask for them that way.
Information collected automatically
Basic request logs. Like every website, our hosting provider receives your IP address, browser type and the page you asked for when you load the site. It keeps these logs for security and to keep the site running.
Visitor counts. We use Vercel Web Analytics to count visits and see which pages are popular. It does not set cookies and does not identify you.
Analytics and session recordings (PostHog). If you accept analytics cookies in our cookie banner, we use PostHog to understand how people use the site. It records the pages you view, your clicks and scrolling, the site that sent you to us, your device, your browser, and your approximate location (city or region, worked out from your IP address). It may also make a session recording: a replay of your mouse movements, clicks, scrolling and the page as you saw it, so we can find parts of the site that are confusing or broken. Here is how we limit what these tools see:
- Everything you type into a form field is masked in recordings. We see that a field was filled, not what you typed.
- Recording never runs on private account or booking-management pages, or on links that carry a booking code or token.
- Email addresses, phone numbers, codes and tokens are removed from page addresses before they are sent.
- Your name, email address and phone number are never sent to PostHog. If you submit a form, book an inspection or use the chat, we tell PostHog that the visit led to that action. We link it to an internal ID number, not to who you are.
If you decline analytics cookies, or never answer the banner, PostHog does not load and nothing is recorded. See our Cookie Policy for details.
How we use your information
- To answer your questions, schedule inspections, and do the work you hire us for.
- To reach you the way you asked: by text, call or email.
- To send booking confirmations and reminders.
- To apply the Built for the Brave discount.
- To keep the site secure and stop spam and abuse.
- To understand how the site is used and improve it.
- To meet our legal obligations and protect our rights.
We do not sell your personal information. We do not share it with anyone for their own marketing. We do not use it for targeted advertising.
Text messages
If you pick text as your reply method, or you text us, we will text you from our business phone about your request: to answer you, set up or remind you about an inspection, or tell you about a change. We do not send marketing texts. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP, or just tell us, and we'll stop texting you. We may still reach you by phone or email about work you asked for.
We do not share your mobile number or your consent to receive texts with third parties or affiliates for their marketing.
Who we share information with
We share information only with service providers that help us run the business, and only what they need to do their job:
- Vercel: hosts the site and receives request logs and cookieless visitor counts.
- Supabase: stores our database, including form submissions, bookings, chat conversations and customer records.
- Brevo: sends our emails, such as booking confirmations and reminders.
- OpenRouter and Google: OpenRouter routes your chat messages to Google's Gemini AI model, which writes the assistant's replies. Only the conversation is sent.
- PostHog: product analytics and session recordings, only if you accept analytics cookies.
We may also share information:
- when the law requires it, or to protect our rights, safety or property;
- with a buyer or successor if our business is sold or reorganized. This policy will keep applying to your information.
How long we keep it
We keep what you send through the site, such as form messages, inspection requests and chats, for as long as we need it to answer you, follow up, and keep a record of our conversation. If you ask us to delete it, we will, unless we need to keep it for a legal reason. If you hire us, your information becomes part of our normal business records for that job.
Analytics data in PostHog is kept for the period PostHog allows on our plan, and is then deleted automatically.
Security
We use reasonable safeguards to protect your information. These include encrypted connections (HTTPS), access controls on our database and admin tools, and masking of form fields in recordings. No website or system is perfectly secure, so we can't guarantee security. If a breach affects your personal information, we will notify you as Texas law requires.
Your choices and rights
You can ask us to:
- tell you what personal information we have about you;
- correct it;
- delete it, except for records the law requires us to keep;
- stop texting you. You can also reply STOP at any time.
To make a request, email ricky@downsouthtx.net or call (832) 530-0402. We may need to confirm who you are before we act on it. We won't treat you differently for making a request.
You can also block or delete cookies in your browser, or change your cookie choice at any time using the "Cookie settings" link on the site.
Do Not Track. Our site does not respond to browser "Do Not Track" signals. Analytics only run if you accept them in the cookie banner.
Children
The site is meant for adults who own or manage property. We don't knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you think a child has sent us information, contact us and we will delete it.
Links to other sites
The site may link to other websites and social media pages. Their own privacy policies apply when you visit them.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when our site or our practices change. The new version will be posted on this page with a new effective date.
Governing law
This policy and any dispute about it are governed by the laws of the State of Texas and applicable U.S. federal law.
